Cooking Class

Combine your trip to the Finnmark plateau with a culinary course where we use local ingredients such as reindeer, arctic char, and cloudberries. Here, you will receive tips for both traditional Sami cuisine and more urban dishes, all in a pleasant and informal environment where the goal is to convey both culinary enjoyment and true craftsmanship. The course is suitable for hobby cooks, businesses, groups of friends — or anyone seeking great food experiences.

Traditional reindeer herding in a modern society

Although the Sámi reindeer herders have embraced modern tools and technology, traditions remain strong and are essential for success in a harsh and unpredictable climate. What can we learn from the way reindeer herders manage and sustain their resources? What does it require in terms of collaboration and teamwork, and how can these lessons be applied to other environments? Suitable for all.

Duodji - Sámi craftsmanship

Traditional Sámi craftsmanship, known as "duodji," is a significant identity builder in Sápmi. Beautiful works made from leather, fabric, bone, wood, and metal are crafted using methods and techniques passed down through generations. Combine your experiences on the Finnmark plateau with visits to duodji practitioners and duodji exhibitions in Kautokeino. Suitable for anyone interested in Sámi history and craftsmanship.

Film and Photography

Andreas Ausland is a film cinematographer, photographer, and director with extensive experience in arctic conditions. He runs the company Peak Vision Media in Kautokeino. Andreas can be hired to create a custom film of your trip and/or share his expertise in photographing the unique lighting and weather conditions you encounter on the plateau.

Butchery Course

Learn traditional reindeer slaughtering and butchering techniques from experienced reindeer herders. The methods used are also applicable to other game, cattle, and small livestock. The reindeer herders will show you how they utilize every part of the animal while emphasising the importance of animal welfare and respect for the reindeer in ensuring the quality of the meat. This course is suitable for groups interested in hunting and outdoor activities, whether for work or leisure.

Extreme Adventures

We tailor trips for groups seeking extra challenges in the spectacular nature offered by the Finnmark plateau. The trips are customised based on the group's preferences and abilities and are led by Johan Mathis Buljo. Johan is a former winner of "71° Nord," has extensive leadership experience in the military, and grew up in reindeer herding. Get to know Johan here.
