The winter tours

The differences between autumn and winter tours primarily revolve around three things: nature, reindeer behaviour and accessibility, and the mode of transportation we use during the trip. During winter, you can be fascinated by the endless, white plateau as the reindeer gather more in the grazing areas, giving us the opportunity to get closer to the herd, and we use snowmobiles as a means of transportation.*

The content of the trip

Experience the best of Sami culture, history, and way of life on our trip to Lesjavre and Diergi. Immerse yourself in the local culture through storytelling and activities.

  • Explore the stunning Finnmark plateau on snowmobiles, offering a unique perspective of the magnificent landscape.
  • Gain insights into sustainable practices by witnessing how the reindeer herding Sami people utilize different parts of the plateau throughout the seasons, including the ethical use of the entire animal after slaughter. Watch the video "The Pact" to learn more.
  • Indulge in delicious meals that showcase the local cuisine, with reindeer meat as the highlight of every meal.
  • You will have the opportunity to fish in the many lakes in the area.
  • You will get to try your hand at the art of lasso throwing.
  • Stay in cozy mountain lodges out on the plateau, some of which feature saunas, for a truly authentic experience.

*The snow conditions can vary greatly from season to season. Sometimes winter arrives earlier than usual on the plateau, while other times it comes later. This can affect the mode of transportation we end up using.
